How it happened
Athletico Paranaense made the perfect start when Leonardo Caetano Silva opened the scoring in the 6th minute, with Gilberto providing the assist. Luiz Gustavo doubled the advantage on 29 minutes, and Kevin Viveros made it 3-0 two minutes later, again assisted by Gilberto.
Chapecoense tried to respond after the interval, but the next goal also went to the visitors. Maurício Garcez pulled one back in the 72nd minute, assisted by Yannick Bolasie, yet Athletico restored a three-goal cushion six minutes later when Kevin Viveros struck again, this time set up by Eduardo Kogitzki Anastacio.
There were also yellow cards for Marcio Antonio de Sousa Junior and João Paulo for Chapecoense, while Gilberto was booked for Athletico Paranaense.
